Most consumers (and marketers) don’t know that you can link a credit card to a Twitter account to make payments.
So how do you get the message out? Twitter and Amex have found an effective strategy by teaming up with Papa John’s.
To get a $5 discount on Papa Johns pizza for the next month (including on the big game day), consumers can simply connect their Amex card to a Twitter account, tweet using the #AmexPapaJohns hashtag, and wait for a reply tweet confirming the credit.
Once the confirmation comes in, the hungry Twitter user simply pays with same Amex card in-store, online, or via the Papa John’s mobile app, and the $5 is applied automatically.
That’s a smart (and tasty) solution to an unsavory awareness problem.
